About Liberty Baptist Church
"Shining the light of the gospel, across the street and around the world"
Liberty Baptist Church is a biblically-based church that is committed to presenting the good news that God has personal purpose for your life. We truly believe that we are a church for everyone, and have an atmosphere that will make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Whether you are just checking out the church scene and wondering what this is all about or you are a fully devoted follower of Christ you are welcome here.
We want to thank you for taking the time to check us out here at Liberty. We hope that you will come and enjoy great up-lifting music and experience a life-changing message from our pastor, Chris Dixon at one of our worship services this weekend!
A Brief History Of Liberty Baptist Church
In August of 1982, twenty-one men met and called Rev. Jimmy Napier as the first pastor of Liberty Baptist Church. The first prayer meeting was held at Trinity Baptist Church and the first worship services were held at Stanley Funeral Home. In October of that year, three acres of land was purchased at the corner of Claxton Dairy and Trinity rd. In the year 1983 Liberty met at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Trinity Rd. and sold $158,00 in bonds. In March of the same year, ground was broken and 5 months later the first services were held in the new building. This began an incredible new journey for Liberty as its size and influence grew in the community.
In 2005 Liberty Baptist Church affirmed God's call for Chris Dixon to serve as pastor. On Sunday November 27, 2005 our Pastor officially began his service as Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church. Since then the focus of the church has shifted toward evangelism, discipleship and prayer and towards a "whatever it takes" philosophy to obey the word of God and to reach people for Christ.
The church began to see huge growth and there was need for more space. In 2007 the church began the expansion of it's current facilities. Church volunteers worked many hours to build three brand new buildings onto the existing campus. In 2009 the last building was completed adding a new office building, youth center, and adult education building.
God has really been doing great things through the Ministry of Liberty Baptist Church. Just in five short years we have seen church attendance go from 60-400 and have seen nearly 200 people baptized. Everyday we are seeing more and more lives changed through this ministry and we hope that you will want to be a part of it with us. Seeing only the "tip of the iceberg" is the best way to describe where liberty is now. For although we have seen many great and wonderful things we know that the best is still yet to come!
